Lady Panthers suffer loss to Tom Bean, 7-6

PARIS — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers saw their season come to a heartbreaking end Thursday following a 7-6 loss to the Tom Bean Lady Tomcats in the Bi-District round of the playoffs at Chisum High School. Despite leading heading into the final inning, the Lady Panthers couldn’t hold their advantage, as the Lady Tomcats scored three unanswered runs to steal the win.

Lady Lions fall short vs. Bloomburg, 4-2

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Saltillo Lady Lions saw their season come to a disappointing end last Wednesday following a 4-2 loss to the Bloombug Lady Wildcats in their Bi-District playoff game at Chapel Hill Northeast High School. Though the game was close all game long, the Lady Lions weren’t able to come out on top, leading to a bitter loss.

SB falls to Avery, 13-5

SULPHUR BLUFF — The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears had their season come to a disappointing end Thursday following a 13-5 loss to the Avery Lady Bulldogs in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. Over the course of the game, the Lady Bears weren’t able to establish any rhythm and couldn’t keep Avery off balance, leading to a tough loss.

Lady Eagles sweep L-K in Bi-District

PARIS — The No. 3 Como-Pickton Lady Eagles had no trouble in their Bi-District playoff series at Chisum High School last week, sweeping the Linden- Kildare Lady Tigers two games to none. In both games, the Lady Eagles started strong and never looked back, soaring to a pair of wins.

SS track competes at the Regional meet

DENTON — The Sulphur Springs track and field program competed at the Regional Track and Field meet at the University of North Texas last weekend. During that time, both teams performed well in multiple events.

Wildcats lose to NL

PARIS — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats were dealt their third straight loss Tuesday following a 14-3 defeat at the hands of the North Lamar Panthers. Throughout the course of the game, the Panthers outplayed the Wildcats at every opportunity and couldn’t establish any rhythm.

Three schools do well at Regional Meet

DENTON — The 1A Region III track and field meet was held at the University of North Texas this past weekend. Three Hopkins County schools — Miller Grove, Saltillo, and Sulphur Bluff — would all represent their schools well, with multiple high placings.

Lady Eagles beat A-G in seeding game

LONE OAK — The No. 3 Como-Pickton Lady Eagles earned the top seed in District 17-2A Tuesday by defeating the Alba- Golden Lady Panthers 10-5 in a playoff seeding game. After a close first inning, the Lady Eagles caught fire in the second inning and held off the Lady Panthers late, earning the No. 1 seed in the district.

Cumby beats Fruitvale

FRUITVALE — The Cumby Trojans earned their first district win of the season Tuesday by crushing the Fruitvale Bobcats 19-1 on the road. The game’s outcome would be decided early on, as the Trojans dominated from the beginning and never wavered, leading to blowout win.

SPRINGTOWN — The 2A Region II track and field meet was held at Porcupine Stadium on the campus of Springtown High School this past weekend. Three Hopkins County schools — Como-Pickton, Cumby, and North Hopkins — would all represent their schools well at the meet.
