Since the UIL pushed back the fall seasons for 5A-6A schools a few weeks, coaches and schools have been scrambling to make the modifications needed to get their schedules together for their respective seasons.

Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz defeated the New Orleans Pelicans and LeBron James led his Los Angeles Lakers to a 2-point win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Rangers split pair of home games with Arizona

ARLINGTON—After losing their opening series 2-1, the Texas Rangers hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks for a twogame set on Tuesday and Wednesday. After scoring a combined four runs in their back-to-back losses to the Rockies, Texas hoped to wake up their bats and find some offense against Arizona.

Dragons, baseball team receive academic honors

Paris Junior College athletes earned both individual and team academic honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association. Despite the difficulties this year from the COVID-19 pandemic, 9,555 student-athletes from around the nation achieved a 3.60 grade point average or higher.

Rangers open season with series loss at home

ARLINGTON—The Texas Rangers opened their season with a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies this weekend. The Rangers would lose the series after shutting the Rockies out 1-0 in the opener on Friday.

Trojans hit four district games on the road

CUMBY—With the start of the 2020 high school football season just around the corner, the Cumby Trojans are excited to get their season started. The Trojans are set to begin their official first day of practice on Monday and will have just a few weeks to get in the flow of things before their first game. Cumby has one scrimmage scheduled before they play their first game: They will play Tom Bean on the road Friday, Aug. 21.
