4 Lions receive All-District recognition

CAMPBELL — With each teams’ seasons now in the books, District 12-1A announced their All-District selections for the 2026 baseball season. The Saltillo Lions, who finished as district runners-up, had four of their players make the All-District team.

HOUSTON — The Texas Rangers began the Silver Boot Series against their heated AL West rival, the Houston Astros, this weekend with a three-game series at Daikan Park.

8 athletes compete at State Track Meet

AUSTIN — Track and Field season came to a close this past weekend at the State Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Representatives from two Hopkins County schools — four from Sulphur Springs and three from Miller Grove — each represented their schools well.

HALLSVILLE — Trailing 4-0 through five innings in their Class 2A/ D2 Regional Finals matchup against the Woden Lady Eagles Friday, the Como-Pickton Lady Eagles’ season seemed to be over, but Como-Pickton refused to give up.

Audrey Yates signed a national letter of intent to run cross country and track at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall. Yates has enjoyed a stellar running career at Miller Grove. Throughout high school, she was a three-time Regional Qualifier and one-time State Qualifier in cross country and three-time Regional Qualifier in track and field.

Five soccer players earn Academic All-State nods

SAN MARCOS — The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) recently announced their Academic All-State selections for the 2026 soccer season. Sulphur Springs High School had five soccer players receive Academic All-State recognition: three girls and two boys.
