The Vaden Cabin now stands in the Hopkins County Heritage Park, but once housed slave owners in the Tira area of the county. Caroline Vaden, later Panell, was a child when she traveled from a slave market in Smith County, Tennessee, to a cotton plantation in Hopkins County, Texas. Her descendant, Corey sims, describes Caroline's well-documented story after locating the Vaden Cabin in 2025.
