CHRISTUS Health recognizes American Heart Month in February to bring awareness to the body’s most vital organ and educate people about how to keep it healthy.According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death for adults in the U.S.
Although the Hopkins County Dairy Festival wasn't slated to officially lift off until Friday, Celebration Plaza was packed Thursday evening with families and community members eager for a preview of the Dairy Festival Hot Air Balloon Rally and Glow Friday and Saturday nights at Shannon Oaks Church. 2024 Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen Coryn Young and the 2025 Dairy Festival pageant contestants helped the balloon pilots, serving as crew members throughout the weekend. The Art of Dutch Oven Cooking

The 20th Annual John Chester Dutch Oven Cooking Class was held on April 20 in the Hopkins County Museum and Heritage Park. The late John Chester of Dike taught Rick Wilson the art and now, Wilson holds this event annually.

Celebrating Earth Day

Despite the rain on Saturday, the third annual Earth Day had good participation in Sulphur Springs. Erika Mayorga, host of the event and owner of The Plant Niche, moved Earth Day from its outdoor location on the square to Texas Hops and Chops at 211 Magnolia Street.
