The Hopkins County Genealogical Society Fall Genealogy Seminar will be Saturday, Sept. 19 has a few seats available for the in-person presentation, according to the society. Social distancing will be in effect, and masks will be required. Anyone who plans to attend the seminar virtually must sign up by 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. American Legion Post #66 will host a blood drive 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 in the Brookshire’s parking lot, 809 Gilmer St. in Sulphur Springs, with Carter BloodCare mobile donation center. COVID-19 antibody testing will be available for all donors. A special thank-you will be provided from McDonald’s. The Hopkins County Health Care Foundation will offer free mammogram screenings to uninsured women older than 40 years. Appointments will be set for 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 and limited to the first 20 women who call 903-439-4040 and schedule their appointments.

Memorial services for the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and remember those who lost their lives will take place at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 7, Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, 1200 Houston St. in Sulphur Springs, will host free COVID-19 testing 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday for anyone who wants to be tested. Registration and scheduling is available at gogettested.com for Keeping Texas Tested & Open program. There are no requirements for testing, and results will be made available within 48-96 hours of testing. Anyone with positive results will receive a medical consultation from a provider.
