JetTribe announced this week that Sulphur Springs Watercraft Expo, originally scheduled for May 16 at Coleman Lake, has been postponed due to the current COVID-19 restrictions. “We look forward to rescheduling this event when it can be safe and enjoyable for all riders and spectators,” a representative of JetTribe said.

The Little Free Library, sponsored by Sulphur Springs ISD library, is a free book exchange available at Kids Kingdom in Buford Park. Anyone is welcome to borrow a book, then return it to exchange for another one. Participants are also encouraged to bring books to share. For more information, visit littlefreelibrary.org.

The Hopkins County Genealogy Society library will continue to be closed until the end of April. All activities, including the monthly meeting and Lunch & Learn events, are suspended. The society will determine extending the closure into May at the end of April.

A special Easter breakfast will be served free of charge at Pacific Park for local children at 9-11 a.m. Sunday, April 12. Breakfast tacos will be served, and bags of Easter eggs and goodies will be handed out. Children must be present to pick up the meal and Easter bag. The meal and eggs were made possible by donations from local businesses, churches and individuals and is hosted by the organizers of Bright Star Baseball and Sulphur Springs Independent School District.

Sulphur Springs Rotary Club’s Clause for a Cause Crawfish Fest, originally scheduled for April 25, has been canceled for 2020. “We are sad to announce that this year’s crawfish event is officially cancelled due to COVID-19. Our crawfish will be relaxing and practicing social distancing for the foreseeable future! Be safe, friends,” organizers said. Anyone who has already purchased tickets or paid to sponsor the event will receive a refund.

A second Hopkins County prayer vigil will take place 8-8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 5 in the parking lot of Sulphur Springs High School. Attendees are asked to arrive and remain in their vehicles to maintain social distancing. Everyone is welcome to turn on their hazard or parking lights to indicate their participation. Prayers are asked for “our country, state, county and communities. Pray for our school district, our students, our teachers, and for this virus to end. Please also pray for all the businesses … and for those who have lost their jobs.” Organizers also request that prayers be said for all health care workers, those affected by the virus, and unity. Event organizers are Jamie VanWinkle, Shelia Aaron, Elizabeth Shaw Moss and Shirley Patchen.

Sulphur Springs Church of the Nazarene, 1300 South League St., 27th annual Truckload Plant Sale has been postponed. The church will announce on its Facebook page when the event is rescheduled. This is a fundraiser for the church’s youth group.
