Annual Sale of Champions expected to match, exceed 2023 total

The Sulphur Springs FFA team of Cash Gamblin, Kohen Moss and Lane Kerns earned the Grand Champion prize with their 40-foot tandem dual trailer with a hydraulic ramp at the 2024 Northeast Texas Livestock Association’s annual Ag Mechanics show. The Reserve Grand Champion title went to Hopkins County 4-H members Braxton Northcutt and Beaux Ruff for their custom flatbed trailer made from a 2017 Dodge truck bed.

Early voting continues through March 1 in Party Primaries

Early voting for the Republican and Democratic Primaries began Tuesday, Feb. 20, and will continue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday, March 1, in the Justice of the Peace #2 courtroom at the Hopkins County Annex Building, which is located at 128 Jefferson St., in Sulphur Springs.

Sapaugh receives Citizen of the Year award

Hopkins County native Don Sapaugh was honored Thursday night as the 2023 Citizen of the Year during Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce’s 97th Annual Membership Banquet. The award was one of at least a dozen presented to some of Hopkins County’s best, who last year and in some cases over the course of several years or even a lifetime, have been exceptional community contributors, partners, businesses and contributors.

Sulphur Springs ISD trustees call for bond election
