Easter obsevances, services scheduled March 30-31

Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County churches and community organizations will be observing Easter this weekend with services, celebrations and egg hunts.

Listed are Easter activities that have been reported to the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram:

„ First Baptist Church Sulphur Springs' Easter Sunday services begin at 8:30 and 11 a.m. in the Worship Center and a contemporary service will be held at 11 a.m. at The ROC. Childcare is provided.

„ Central Baptist Church's Easter Sunday service begins at 10:30 a.m.

„ Gafford Chapel Church, located at 6839 Texas Highway 11, approximately six miles west of Sulphur Springs, invites the public to its Easter services. The Easter sunrise service will be at 6:45 a.m. on the east side of the church, followed by breakfast in the community center. The morning Easter Sunday service will begin at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. Visitors are welcome.

„ Wesley United Methodist Church, 614 Texas St., will celebrate Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, with a service starting at 10:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

„ Holy Week observances at Our Savior Lutheran Church will conclude Sunday, March 31, with a sunrise service at 7 a.m., pancake breakfast at 8:15 a.m., 10 a.m. Easter egg hunt and 10:30 a.m. worship.

„ The annual City of Como Easter Celebration for the whole family is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30. More than 2,000 Easter eggs will be provided with a golden prize egg among those hidden in Como City Park and Ballfield, at 104 Mill St. in Como. The event will also feature live music, bounce houses and a visit from the Easter Bunny. „ Community Lighthouse Baptist Church and Blackjack Grove Daughters will host a Cumby Community Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, in Cumby City Park. The event will include an egg hunt, bounce houses and hot dogs cooked by Hopkins County Masonic Lodge 180.

„ Community Easter Egg Hunt will be hosted from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30, across from Pickton-Pine Forest Volunteer Fire Department’s station. Kids can enjoy egg-hunting, have their face painted and have a photo made with the Easter Bunny.

„ Northeast Texas Children’s Museum has rescheduled their Easter egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 30. The hunt is free with museum admission. Easter crafts will be available all day, and the Easter Bunny will be available from 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m.

„ East End Allegiance: Our Youth’s 5th Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon March 30 at Pacific Park in Sulphur Springs. Kids can enjoy bounce houses, have their face painted and hunt for candy-filled eggs. A photo booth is also available.
