The Sulphur Springs Wildcats hosted Royse City Friday night for a district rematch. The Wildcats won the first matchup on Jan. 28, 69-43.

Sulphur Springs set the tone from the opening tip with Cameron Kahn scoring on the opening possession. Sadaidriene Hall got a steal on the next possession and threw down a monster slam dunk to give the Wildcats a quick 4-0 lead.

Later in the quarter, Hall had back-toback plays in which he scored on a layup, and then knocked down a 3-pointer to widen their lead to 11-2. Hall had 9 points in the opening frame.

Sulphur Springs went on an 11-5 run in the final few minutes of the quarter, capped off by a deep 3-pointer from Caleb Alexander to give them a 22-7 lead entering the second quarter.

Royse City started the second quarter off strong, cutting the deficit down to 27-16 and forcing Sulphur Springs to call a timeout with 4:15 remaining in the half. Coming out of the timeout, Boo Wilkerson knocked down a 3-pointer, and Lamodrick Johnson had 4 quick points to push the lead to 34-16.

Hall followed that with his second dunk of the night, and the Wildcats' lead was up to 20 points. The two teams traded buckets in the final minutes of the half, and Sulphur Springs went into the locker room leading 38-20.

Royse City opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run, forcing Sulphur Springs to call a timeout and try to regroup. Royse City kept the momentum going the entire quarter and got as close as 48-43 in the final minute of the frame.

The Wildcats held the ball for the final possession and got the ball to Lamodrick Johnson with just seconds left on the clock. Johnson fooled his man with a pump fake and knocked down a very deep 3-pointer as time expired, making Sulphur Springs lead 51-43 after three.

Justin Brock opened the fourth quarter with his first 3-pointer of the night, and Cameron Kahn scored on the next two possessions to push their lead to 62-45. Kahn had 8 of his 19 points in the final frame.

With 3:13 left to play, Caleb Alexander made his second 3-pointer of the night, and Royse City was forced to call a timeout, trailing 66-45. Royse City tried to claw their way back into the game, but it was too late. The Wildcats won 72-60.

Cameron Kahn was the leading scorer for the Wildcats, finishing with 19 points. Hall was right behind him with 18. Johnson had a strong showing as well, posting 15 points and making six of his eight freethrow attempts. Wilkerson ended with 10 points, and Alexander had 6, each knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Other scorers for the Wildcat were Brock who had 3 points, and Grayson McClure who had 1.
