Squads set 1st scrimmages, games

Hopkins County’s volleyball teams will return to the hardwood with two-a-day practices starting Aug. 5 in preparation for each team’s first scrimmages of the season.

The Sulphur Springs Ladycats will travel to North Lamar Aug. 6 to meet the Pantherettes and Sherman in a tri-match.

The freshmen and JV teams will open the season Aug. 8-10 at the Eustace Tournament while the varsity Ladycats kick off their year Aug. 9-10 at the Garland Tournament.

The team’s first home match will be Sept. 3 against Wills Point.

The Cumby Lady Trojans will host Lone Oak for the team’s scrimmage Aug. 3. The Lady Trojans open their year at Commerce Aug. 5 and their first home game is Aug. 9 against Queen City.

Como-Pickton’s Lady Eagles open their season with a scrimmage Aug. 3 before kicking off their season Aug. 6.

The Miller Grove Lady Hornets kick off their year with a scrimmage Aug. 3 at Rains , then travel to Lone Oak Aug. 6 for the season opener.

The team’s home opener is Aug. 9 against Trinity Christian.

The Lady Bears of Sulphur Bluff open their season Aug. 6 on the road at Quinlan Boles.

The North Hopkins Lady Panthers will hold scrimmages at home Aug. 3 and at Tom Bean Aug. 5. The team opens its season Aug. 6 at Nevada Community.

The Lady Panthers play at home for the first time at the North Hopkins Tournament Aug. 15 and 17.

The Yantis Lady Owls open their season on the road Aug. 5 at Beckville.
