SALTILLO — The Saltillo Lions hosted Bloomburg Tuesday night in a game they won 59-25. This is a district rematch from Jan. 17 in which Saltillo won 75-34.

The game opened with Saltillo struggling a bit to find their offense; however, they only allowed Bloomburg to score 2 points in the opening frame.

The second quarter is when the Lions offense came to life, scoring 27 points and taking a 37-15 lead into the half.

Saltillo opened the second half with another 20-point quarter and, like the first quarter, held Bloomburg to just 2 points in the frame. The Lions led 57-17.

Able to take their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter, Saltillo fell back a bit and was outscored, 8-2.

Saltillo shared the ball and got everybody involved, as three Lions finished in double-digits. Chris Boekhorst led the way with 16 points. Gunner Tarver was right behind him with 14, and Andrew Redburn had 11. Other scorers for the Lions were Dillon Beadle, 9, Coy Collins, 4, Colby McCoy, 2, Beckham Hoover, 2, and Cale Hoover, 1.

With this win, Saltillo improves to 26-4 on the season and remains undefeated in district play with a record of 6-0. The Lions play again Friday, Feb. 7 in Sulphur Bluff. The JV girls start at 4:30 p.m. with the JV boys, varsity girls and varsity boys to follow.
