LINDALE — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats earned their first Regional Tournament berth Tuesday following a 3-1 win over the Bullard Lady Panthers in their Regional Quarterfinal playoff game at Eagle Stadium in Lindale. After the game was tied early in the second half, a pair of unanswered goals propelled to the Lady Wildcats to a victory.

The first half didn’t see much action early on as both defenses played well. Both teams would also miss out on several scoring opportunities.

Eventually, with 20:56 remaining in the half, the Lady Wildcats got on the board when Rowan Faircloth scored a run, giving them a 1-0 lead. That score would hold up for the remainder of the half, as the Lady Wildcats carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.

As the second half began, both defenses played well early on. Then, with 34:37 left in the game, the Lady Panthers scored a goal, tying the score up at 1-1.

Six minutes later, the Lady Wildcats pulled ahead again when Anna Williams scored a goal with 28:22 left to play, giving Sulphur Springs a 2-1 lead. This would be followed by another period of no scoring.

Then, with 19:25 remaining, the Lady Wildcats added some insurance to their lead when Haylee Shultz scored a run, extending their lead to 3-1.

From there, the score would remain the same until the final buzzer, as the Lady Wildcats clinched a 3-1 victory.

With the win, the Lady Wildcats improved to 24-3 on the season. They resumed action Friday, taking on the Frisco Panther Creek Lady Panthers in the Regional Semifinals at Rose Stadium in Tyler.
