Graveside service for Susie Buchanan, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Buddy Wiggins officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Mrs. Buchanan passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at Villa Fontana Memory Care in San Jose, Calif.
Susie was born Feb. 14, 1926 in Sulphur Springs to Ed and Una (Cain) Farmer. She married John Louis (JL) Buchanan Jr. in Sulphur Springs May 28, 1944. Susie worked as an accountant for a brick manufacturer for many years. She was a member of First Christian Church, Sulphur Springs.
She is survived by her sons, John Buchanan and wife Patty of Reno, Nev., and Louis Buchanan of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Matthew Buchanan, Andrew Buchanan, Allison Pruitt and husband Jarvis, and Madison Hernandez and husband Alan; and great-grandchild, Jarvis Lee Pruitt, Jr.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Lois Lancaster, Eddie Black and May Wilkinson.
Although Susie lived in California for the past 14 years, her heart was always in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and she will rest peacefully at home.
