SALTILLO — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers picked up their second consecutive win Tuesday by defeating the Saltillo Lady Lions 24-10 on the road. In a high-scoring offensive showdown, the Lady Panthers’ bats managed to lead them to the win.

The Lady Panthers got on the board first in the top of the first inning with four runs. Daylee Fite, Kenzie Phillips, Hadlee Hrabal, and Morgan Burnett all scored, as the Lady Panthers took a 4-0 lead. The Lady Lions would score two runs in the bottom of the first inning, trimming the score to 4-2.

The second inning saw the Lady Panthers add another run when Fite scored her second run of the game, extending their lead to 5-2. The Lady Lions scored another run in the third inning, bringing the score to 5-3.

The Lady Panthers would score two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Stevana Buchanan and Phillips both scored, as the Lady Panthers extended their lead to 7-3. The Lady Lions would come up with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, pulling ahead 8-7.

The Lady Panthers would go on a tear in the top of the fifth inning with six runs. Fern Hernandez, Fite, Buchanan, Phillips, Hrabal, and Burnett all scored, as the Lady Panthers pulled ahead again, 13-8. The Lady Lions added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, trimming the score to 13-10.

The sixth inning would see the Lady Panthers add on four runs. Fern Hernandez, Buchanan, Evie Fuentes-Perry, and Hrabal scored, bringing the Lady Panthers’ lead to 17-10.

The Lady Panthers’ offense continued to roll in the seventh inning with seven more runs. Taryn Loyd, Fern Hernandez, Fite, Buchanan, Fuentes- Perry, Hrabal, and Burnett scored, as the Lady Panthers increased their lead to 24-10. The Lady Lions were then held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning, as the Lady Panthers capped off another win.

As a team, the Lady Panthers batted 32 for 51 (.627) from the plate. Hrabal led the way, going a perfect 6/6. Burnett, Lucy Hernandez, and Loyd weren’t far behind with four hits each.

Buchanan, Fite, Fuentes- Perry, and Macey Hoelscher contributed three hits each, while Fern Hernandez added two hits.

Buchanan, Fite, and Hrabal shared the title of leading scorer with four runs each. Burnett and Fern Hernandez weren’t far behind with three runs each. Fuentes-Perry added two runs, and Loyd scored one run.

Fite earned the win in the circle. Across seven innings, she tallied six strikeouts, along with 17 hits, 10 earned runs, and three walks.

With the win, the Lady Panthers improved to 114-1 on the season. They resumed action Friday, traveling to Princeton to face off against the Princeton Lady Panthers.
