Collett racks up 12 assists
CLARKSVILLE—The Sulphur Springs Lady Bears traveled to Clarksville Tuesday for a district match. The Lady Bears came into the match hoping the momentum would carry over from their 3-0 win against Rivercrest in their last game.
Sulphur Bluff started the night off hot, blowing Clarksville out in the opening set, 25-10. Clarksville was able to make the second set a bit more competitive but the Lady Bears were still able to pull it out, 25-14.
Sulphur Bluff kept their foot on the gas in the third set, winning once again by a score of 25-10 to complete the three-set sweep. This makes two wins in a row the Lady Bears have won in straight sets.
The setters stole the show for the Lady Bears, with Alley Collet standing out with 12 assists, six aces, four kills and two digs. Teammate Taylor Wallis had a strong performance as well, posting 10 assists, four digs and three aces.
Skylar Stanley and Allie Eason took advantage of their passing performances. Stanley finished the night with seven kills and three blocks, while Eason racked up five kills, one block and one dig.
Tori Raine had a well-balanced game, showing out defensively with seven digs, while also having four aces, three kills and an assist offensively. Other strong defensive performers were Lydia Drummond, who had a game-high nine digs, and Bailey Neal, who had eight digs and three aces.
Other contributors for Sulphur Bluff were Jada Wade, who had three kills and a block, and Dacee Howse, who had a pair of kills.
The Lady Bears will have their final home game of the season Friday, Oct. 16 against James Bowie. That varsity-only matchup is senior night for Sulphur Bluff and will begin at 4:30 p.m.
