FRUITVALE — The Saltillo Lions picked up a huge victory Tuesday, shutting out the Fruitvale Bobcats 20-0 on the road. A 12-run first inning would help catapult the game early on, as the Lions cruised to an easy victory.

The first inning would see the Lions score 12 runs, taking a commanding 12-0 lead. This was followed by a scoreless second inning.

In the third inning, the Lions would add three more runs, extending their lead to 15-0. They would then add five more runs in the fourth inning, and held that score to the end, winning 20-0.

As a team, the Lions batted 7 for 36 (.194) from the plate. Draden Boyd, Tobin Potter, and Dylan Teel led with two hits each, while Jordan Metcalf added one hit.

Mason Stillwagoner and Lucas Womack were the leading scorers with four runs each. Boyd, Kolbe Cooke, and Potter weren’t far behind with three runs each. Eathan Rees scored two runs, and Teel added one run.

Rees earned the victory on the mound, notching a strikeout. Stillwagoner also made a pitching appearance, striking out one batter.

With the win, the Lions improved to 2-1 on the season. They resumed action Friday, traveling to Como to face off against the Como-Pickton Eagles.
