COMO — The Como-Pickton Eagles picked up their second consecutive win Monday following a 15-1 victory over the Cumby Trojans at War Eagle Field. Throughout the game, the Eagles played hard and never gave Cumby a chance, sweeping the Trojans for the season.

The first inning saw the Eagles quickly take command with a pair of runs. Tucker LeCroy and Kobie Wright both scored, as the Eagles established a 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, the Eagles went on a tear, adding onto their lead. Kevin Hernandez, Cade Childress, Payton Hunt, Wright, Oud, and Sean Carpenter all scored, as the Eagles increased their lead to 8-0.

The third inning saw the Eagles continue to dominate, adding on two runs. Joel Newson and LeCroy both scored, as the Eagles extended their lead to 10-0.

In the fourth inning, the Eagles continued to flex their muscles, adding on five more runs. Adrian Chambly, Carpenter, Jakob Kempenaar, Hernandez, and Childress would all score, as the Eagles brought the score to 15-0.

Though the Trojans would avoid a shutout with a run in the fifth inning, it wasn’t enough to keep the game going, as the Eagles finished off a 15-1 win.

As a team, the Eagles batted 8 for 22 (.364) from the plate. Carpenter led the way, going a perfect 3/3. Oud came up with two hits, while Childress, LeCroy, and Wright added one hit each.

Carpenter, Childress, Hernandez, Hunt, and Wright were the leading scorers with two runs each. Kempenaar, LeCroy, Newsom, and Oud all scored one run each.

Oud earned the victory on the mound. Across five innings, he struck out 13 batters, conceding only two hits, two walks, and one run.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 2-0 in district and 3-7-1 overall. They resumed action Tuesday, welcoming the Fruitvale Bobcats to War Eagle Field for a doubleheader.
