DJ Spencer
Worked at TAMUC student newspaper
You might have seen his byline in the Sports section already, but if not, DJ Spencer came aboard last week as the newest sportswriter on the News-Telegram staff.
“I am excited to get my journalism career started here at the News-Telegram,” Spencer said. “It is exciting getting to write about the sports programs here in Hopkins County. I can’t thank Dave enough for the opportunity to be a part of the news team here.”
Spencer, a Canton native, is currently a senior at Texas A&M University - Commerce, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mass media and journalism, and he will graduate in December. While at A&M-Commerce, he served as sports editor at the student newspaper The East Texan, covering the college program as well as the Commerce Tigers and various events at the recreation and outdoor adventure centers.
“I’m excited to see DJ start his career here in this community,” Assistant Managing Editor Todd Kleiboer said. “Every Hopkins County school has a great sports program he can cover.”
