4 named as candidates for Homecoming queen

Como-Pickton | Spirit Week

COMO — Four young ladies have been named candidates for Como-Pickton High School’s 2019 Homecoming queen. All candidates are seniors, and the following are profiles for each.

Carol Nabors is the 18-year-old daughter of Amanda and Ronny Nabors. She is the varsity cheer captain; a member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; National Honor Society member; and participates in Future Farmers of America. Nabors plans to attend Tyler Junior College and looks to be an ultrasound technician.

Sydnee Neal is the 17-year-old daughter of Amy and Shawn Neal. Neal is a member of FFA, NHS and the varsity cheer team, and she plays basketball, is on the track team and participates in Skills USA. She plans to join the U.S. Navy where she aims to be a master-at-arms, the law enforcement and security for the branch.

Jocelyn Perez is the 17-year-old daughter of Irma and Nick Perez. She is a member of NHS, FCCLA and the Spanish Club, and she works on Como-Pickton Consolidated Independent School District’s yearbook. She plans to attend Texas A&M University-Texarkana, where she will major in nursing to become a registered nurse.

Sarah Tran is the 17-year-old daughter of Quynh and Suong Tran. She is member of the high school band, One-Act Play and National Honor Society, and she participates in academic University Interscholastic League (UIL) events. She plans to attend Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she will major in psychology to become a therapist and possibly teach the subject in high school or college.

The homecoming queen will be announced during pre-game activities beginning at 6:50 p.m. before a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against the Trenton Tigers at Ron Heflin Field in Como.
