Cooper native Todd Kleiboer joined the news staff of the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram Monday as a newsroom assistant.
“I am really excited to work at the News-Telegram and hope to sharpen my current journalism skills as well as add new ones,” Kleiboer said. “This is the start of my career in the newspaper business.”
Kleiboer is a graduate of Cooper High School and is expected to graduate Texas A&M-Commerce with a double major in English and sociology and a minor in journalism. He interned with The Cooper Review earlier this year.
He is currently a co-editor-in-chief for TAMUC’s The East Texan, for which work he has been recognized for multiple awards through the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, including headlines, web design, graphics and page design.
Kleiboer will provide newsroom support, ranging in duties from page design and layout of Country World and assisting Managing Editor Jillian Smith with both print and digital publishing of Sulphur Springs News-Telegram.
“The support Todd will provide will be an enormous value to efficiency in the News-Telegram newsroom,” Smith said. “He has already proven to be a valuable asset with his skills and positive attitude.”
