Around 6,000 visit for taste of Hopkins County Stew Contest
People once again crowded both sides of Connally Street for a taste of Hopkins County at the Hopkins County Stew Contest Saturday.
In his Chamber Connection (see page 2) this week, Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Butch Burney wrote there were 150 cook sites and 6,000 visitors to Buford Park. He estimated the cooks were "churning out 3,000-4,000 gallons of beef and chicken stew."
Key volunteers included the Blue Blazes, HOSA, the Hopkins County High School Leadership Class, Sulphur Bluff Beta Club, HKK and the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Ambassadors.
