The East Texas Junior Golf Tour had a wonderful day to play golf with a light wind, cool breeze and overcast skies.

Returning to Mount Pleasant Country Club Tuesday included extra excitement in the High School Boys division. In a threeway tie for first, George Burrows, Brady Sisk and Jonathan Chitsey, all of Mount Pleasant, each shot a 4 over par 76. With this three-way tie, it was off to sudden death play.

With near 20 carts of fans in tow, all three boys took pars on hole 10 to move on to hole 11. Chitsey was the first casualty, hitting a tee shot out of bounds. Sisk too went for a high-risk/high-reward shot by hitting a driver off the ground for his second shot, and the risk created an opening for Burrows to win the hole and the sudden death playoff.

In the High School Girls division, Reese Ball of Mount Pleasant notched her first career victory over Katie Starr of Texarkana.

The Junior High Boys Division saw Jacob Baker of Mount Pleasant continue his dominance, carding a 74 to take first over Landon Weaver of Mount Pleasant and Isaac Stanley of Sulphur Springs.

The Junior High Girls division was a two-person race in which only two shots separated the leader from second place. Adie Rosewell of Mount Pleasant picked up her first win of the year with Kenlie Mayben of Pittsburg chipping at her heels.

The 11 & Under division saw Alex Hammond of Atlanta leading the field with a 2 under 34 followed by Ryan Weaver of Mount Pleasant and a two-way tie for third with Connor Castro of Gilmer and Hogan Horn of Mount Pleasant.

Monday the ETJGT will be hosting “The Masters Par Three” at Mount Pleasant Country Club. "The Masters Par Three” is where the entire golf course is turned into an 18-hole par three contest. Those interested in joining, tournaments are every Monday and Thursday, and all information can be seen on the tour website at http://texasjuniorgolf.myfreesites. net or call Matt Garrett at 325-939-3333.
