TEXARKANA — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats were dealt another blemish to their record Tuesday following a 10-0 shutout loss to the Pleasant Grove Hawks. Throughout the game, the Hawks outplayed the Wildcats at every opportunity and never gave them a chance, leading to a shutout.

The first inning set the tone early on, as the Hawks immediately jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. The Hawks added two runs in the second inning, bringing the score to 7-0.

After a scoreless third inning, the Hawks scored another run in the fourth inning, making the score 8-0. The Hawks would then end the game in the fifth inning with two more runs, handing the Wildcats a 10-0 loss.

As a team, the Wildcats batted just 4 for 19 (.211) from the plate. Corbin Argenbright, Alex Macias, Kaden Mitchell, and Josh Perkins were the only Wildcats to record a hit. Kody Barclay and Braxton Wall were the only other Wildcats to reach base, all via walks.

Ty Holt suffered the loss on the mound. In one inning, he gave up five runs (two earned), four hits, and one walk. Macias pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and five runs (four earned), managing two strikeouts.

With the loss, the Wildcats dropped to 4-8 in district and 6-19 overall. They resumed action Friday, welcoming the Paris Wildcats to Wildcat Park for their senior night game.
