Wildcats open Terrell tournament with 1-1 draw

TERRELL — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats opened the Terrell Tiger Winter Classic Soccer Tournament against Kilgore Thursday morning in a game that ended in a 1-1 tie.

Angel Andino scored the only goal for the Wildcats off an assist from Kevin Yanez.

“It was a nasty one. It was rainy and wet with really bad wind. Couldn’t read the ball or judge much,” Coach Alexi Upton said. “They are a really good team, and we played well. Keeps us right where we need to be to win the tournament.”

The Wildcats will continue the tournament this weekend with games against Hallsville on Friday and Seagoville on Saturday which will be covered in Tuesday’s edition of the News-Telegram.
