The Sulphur Springs Wildcats suffered their third consecutive loss Friday following a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Paris Wildcats. A sluggish start proved to be too much for Sulphur Springs to overcome, as Paris escaped with an upset win.

Prior to the game, Sulphur Springs celebrated the careers of their two seniors — Kody Barclay and Braxton Wall — as this would be their final home game at Wildcat Park.

The first inning set the tone early on, as Paris established an early 4-0 lead on a quartet of runs. Sulphur Springs got on the board in the second inning when Ty Holt scored a run, trimming the score to 4-1.

Paris would add onto their lead in the third inning with a pair of runs, extending their lead to 6-1. Sulphur Springs scored again in the fourth inning when Maddux Cameron scored a run, trimming the score to 6-2.

After both teams went down in order during the fifth inning, the sixth inning also ended scoreless. In the final inning, Sulphur Springs was held scoreless, as Paris handed them a 6-2 loss.

As a team, Sulphur Springs batted just 3 for 23 (.130) from the plate. Kaden Mitchell recorded two hits, and Cameron added one. Cameron and Holt both scored one run each.

Corbin Argenbright suffered the loss on the mound. In three innings, he gave up seven hits, six runs (three earned), and one walk, tallying three strikeouts.

Alex Whittle pitched the final four innings in relief, striking out nine batters while conceding only two hits and two walks.

With the loss, the Wildcats dropped to 4-8 in district and 6-20 overall. They resumed action Tuesday, traveling to Paris to face off against the North Lamar Panthers.
