LEXINGTON, Ky. — Texas A&M University- Commerce volleyball team has earned the US Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic award for the sixth straight year as announced by the organizations.

In 2022-23, the Lions posted a team grade point average of 3.64, while advancing to the postseason for the 11th year in a row, which is the longest active streak among any programs at A&M-Commerce.

This is the sixth consecutive season that A&M-Commerce has received this honor and seventh time in the last eight years. The Lions are one of five teams from the Southland to earn the honor this year.

The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a yearlong grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. Around the country, 1,332 collegiate and high school volleyball teams were honored, which is a new record.
