SS track teams place in fourth at district

Four earn gold medals

PARIS — The Sulphur Springs track teams recently competed at the District 15-4A track and field meet at Paris High School. Both teams placed fourth overall, and had several standouts.

WILDCATS

On the boys side, the Wildcats didn’t have any gold medalists, but did produce several silver medalists.

Ty Bybee would earn two silver medals: placing second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08 seconds, and in the pole vault with a height of 13 feet. Creed Whisenhunt placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.92.

The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Jaxson Haire, Grayson Hardy, Skyler Lewis, and Whisenhunt placed second with a time of 3:33.

Wyatt Watson would earn a bronze medal in the 300-meter hurdles, placing third with a time of 43.63 seconds. Watson also placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.38 seconds The 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Haire, Trysten Hankins, Gio Ibarra, and Lewis would place third with a time of 1:32, winning a bronze medal.

Hardy would take fourth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.41 seconds. 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of CT Galloway, Ibarra, Kyshawn John, and X’Zavion Johnson placed fourth with a time of 43.63 seconds.

Lewis would come in fifth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.73 seconds. Gabe Mayo placed fifth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:11. Mayo also placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:58.

Cannon Gibson finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.93 seconds. Gibson also placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.81 seconds.

Brycen Baxter placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:20. Deuce Hall placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29 seconds.

Hankins placed sixth in two different events, taking sixth in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 3.75 inches, and in the triple jump with a distance of 41 feet, 7.5 inches.

LADY WILDCATS

For the girls side, the Lady Wildcats had multiple gold medalists. Edith Martinez highlighted the day with two gold medals: placing first in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:46, and in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:42.

Jaicee Jasmer placed first in the pole vault with a height of 13 feet. Jasmer also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.39 seconds.

Madyson Gilbert earned first place in the shot put throw with a distance of 35 feet, 11 inches. Gilbert would also place second in the discus throw with a distance of 92 feet, 8.5 inches.

Codee Roland took home first place in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 4.5 inches. Roland also took third place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.

Kolbie Moughon placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.19 seconds. Moughon also took fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 54.98 seconds.

Abigail Williams would earn third place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33. Williams also placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 14:30.

Chloe Willis placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.86 seconds. 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of McKenzie Adams, Aylaen Burrell, Rowan Faircloth, and Jasmer placed fourth with a time of 51.25 seconds.

The 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Teryn Bethea, Burrell, Faircloth, and Jasmer placed fourth with a time of 1:49. The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Bethea, Aaliyah Cheatum, Jolea Moore, and Roland took fifth place with a time of 4:29.

Burrell took fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.96 seconds. Jayden Allen placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time 18.31 seconds.

Kaylee Carter took sixth place in the high jump with a height of five feet.

The next track and field meet will be the Area track meet, which will be April 11 at Lindale’s Eagle Stadium.
