Team ended with 634 total score
KINGSLAND — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats golf team capped off another successful season by tying for ninth place at the state golf meet April 29 and 30 at the Legends Golf Course in Kingsland. They would come up with an overall score of 634, tying Bellville for ninth place.
On the first day, the Wildcats came up with a score of 308. Nick Burney would have the highest score for the Wildcats, shooting a 76. Right behind were Gage Gideon and Luke White, both of whom shot a 77.
Noah Newsom was right behind with a 78, and Tatum Tran rounded out the team with an 86.
The following day, the Wildcats shot at 326, bringing the total score to 634. Gideon would have the best second day, shooting a 74, bringing his overall score to 151.
Burney shot a 79 on the second day, raising his two-day total to 155. Tran would once again shoot an 86, making his total 172 over both days.
White shot an 87, giving him a total of 164 over the course of both days. Newsom rounded out the results with an 88 on day two, giving him a total of 166.
With that, the Wildcats cap off a successful season with a second consecutive state qualification. They return all five golfers, all of whom will be juniors next year, and will look to return to state next season.
