SS basketball home opener tonight

The Sulphur Springs junior varsity and varsity boys basketball will host Pleasant Grove in the Wildcats home opener tonight. JV tip off is at 5 p.m., and the varsity team plays at 6:30 p.m. The Wildcats varsity team record is currently at 1-0 with a Saturday win over Decatur in North Crowley, and the Pleasant Grove Hawks currently sit at 0-1 with the 82-59 loss coming from the Longview Lobos. The Wildcats reaching the 5A state semifinals before falling to Wagner. The Hawks reached the 4A regional semifinals before falling to eventual state champion Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy.

SS basketball boys defeat Decatur 73-71

The Sulphur Springs varsity basketball boys defeated Decatur in a close 73-71 game Saturday night at the Cowtown Showdown in North Crowley. Sadaidriene Hall led the offense with 31 points, and he also grabbed 16 rebounds and racked up 7 blocks. Cameron Kahn ended the night with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Other performances were:

• Boo Wilkerson, 16 points

• Lamodrick Johnson, 5 points

• Justin Haire, 4 points and 4 rebounds

• Grayson McClure, 1 point

Students sign letters of intent

Two Sulphur Springs varsity boys basketball players signed letters of intent this past Wednesday, and two other players are signing Tuesday morning.

Varsity boys basketball player Sadaidriene Hall signed with Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, and Cameron Kahn signed with Dallas Baptist University. Both players were on last year’s team which reached the state semifinals.

Manuel Esparza will sign with Southwestern Assemblies of God University to play soccer, and Jaxon Chaney will sign with Ouachita Baptist University to play baseball.
