Cumby girls compete in NH

BIRTHRIGHT — The Cumby Lady Trojans went 2-3 in recent tournament competition in the North Hopkins volleyball tournament.

The Cumby defeated Maud in three sets and downed Rivercrest in two sets. The Lady Trojans lost to Brownsboro and Prairiland and Chisum. Top hitter in the event was Neely Hammond with 15 kills. Erin Morgan contributed 9 service points and Hammond added 6. Rylee Krotky was the top passer with 16 digs.

Lions host Fan Day on Saturday

COMMERCE — The Texas A&M University-Commerce football program will host a pair of events on Saturday, August 24, which are sure to excite Lion fans as the blue and gold prepare for the 2019 season.

The Lions will participate in their second scrimmage of the preseason at 8 a.m. on Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium. Following the scrimmage, the 2019 Lion Football Fan Day will take place. Schedule cards and posters will be available, with Lion players and coaches available for photographs on the field. Admission to the event is free and season tickets for the 2019 season will be available for purchase.

At 6 p.m., head coach David Bailiff and the Lions will host their first-ever Women’s Football Clinic. The event will give an inside scoop on the season from Lion coaches and includes food, drinks, and giveaways.
