SS volleyball report

Sulphur Springs volleyball teams were in action Friday against tough foes. The Lady Cats lost in varsity action in Edgewood by scores of 20-25, 25-13, 15-25 and 19-25. Sadie Washburn had 22 digs and 20 kills. Peyton Ham-mack added 14 digs. Sydney Washburn and Brooklynn Burnside added nine kills each. In the North Lamar Tournament, the Lady Cat junior varsity downed North Lamar and Prairiland for first place. The Sulphur Springs freshmen were undefeated. The Lady Cats(16-9) host Emory Rains Tuesday. Games start at 4:30 p.m.

Lady Cat volleyball collects for a cause

Sulphur Springs Lady Cat volleyball is offering free entry to see their Tuesday, Sept. 10 game. Attendees just need to bring a nonperishable food item. All items donated will go directly a local food bank to help residents of Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County. According to the team’s announcement, this is their monthly community service project. Junior varsity play against Emory Rains begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game in Sulphur Springs.

Eighth grade football here Tuesday

The Sulphur Springs eighth grade football teams will begin play Tuesday. The Wildcats will host rival Mount Pleasant for two games at Gerald Prim Stadium. The Sulphur Springs B team will play at 5:30 p.m., and the A team will follow at 6:30 p.m. The next home game for the eighth graders is Oct. 1 against Texarkana Middle School.
