Hopkins County law enforcement activity earlier this week included:

Sunday, April 7

„ Nour Hoorani, 28, of Bronx, New York was arrested during an Interstate 30 traffic stop. Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Cody Sagnibene had clocked the vehicle at 90 miles per hour in a 75 mph zone. Hoorani presented a New York driver’s license. The trooper alleged that Hoorani had a suspicious travel itinerary. When asked if he had any illegal narcotics, Hoorani presented a THC vape pen from the center console. Hoorani was taken into custody on a possession less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance charge.

„ Sophia Wauness Spillman, 40, of Sulphur Springs was arrested on a warrant for a probation violation on a theft of property charge.

Monday, April 8

„ Deputies responded to a disturbance at a Gilmer Street residence at 3:14 p.m. The caller advised that several males had created a disturbance at a residence, then, left in a vehicle. Deputies stopped the white Ford Taurus. Isaiah James Sims, 19, of Sulphur Springs was a passenger. Sims was found to have an active Wood County warrant for theft of a firearm; he was taken into custody.

Tuesday, April 9

„ Julian Christopher Medina-Montgomery, 22, of Dallas appeared in district court at 3:21 p.m. and was served with an indictment on Hopkins County warrants for theft of property valued at $30,000 or more but less than $150,000; possession of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1/1B controlled substance and fraudulent use or possession of five or more items of identifying information.

„ Police responded to a report of a crash on South Broadway April 9. Micheal Cole Melton was said to have been involved. They found him and the vehicle he was associated with in a pharmacy parking lot. A records check showed the 42-year-old Sulphur Springs man to be wanted. He was arrested on a theft of property warrant.

„ Officers took a report of criminal mischief, said to have occurred on April 3 at an Ardis Street address.

Wednesday, April 10

„ Theft of $4,200 worth of clothing, a jewelry box, eyeglasses, and a tailgate was reported on Main Street.

Thursday, April 11

„ Gregory Thomas Holter and wife Jennifer Holter of Yantis were arrested on Texas Street. They were stopped for speeding on a motorcycle. He allegedly passed a THC vape device to his wife; suspected methamphetamine was also said to have been found in the pair's possession. The Holters were charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to police reports.

„ Danielle Renee Payne was arrested on a possession of a controlled substance charge and following a College Street disturbance. Four pills identified as having hydrocodeone in them were alegedly found in the 32-year-old's pocket.
