COMMERCE — The Texas A&M University-Commerce softball team has added home games against Texas Southern and Arkansas-Pine Bluff to round out the 2024 schedule.
Texas Southern has been added to the Lion Classic on Feb. 9-11, which serves as the season opener for NCAA Division I. The Lions face the Tigers in the final game of the 11-game tournament on Feb. 11. UMass Lowell and Stonehill are the other two teams competing in the four-team tournament. The Tigers went 16-25 in 2023 and 12-12 in the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC), finishing third in the West Division. It marks the first time that A&M-Commerce is playing a SWAC team in softball.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff, a fellow SWAC school, comes to Commerce for a pair of games on March 26-27. The Lions and the Golden Lions play at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27. The Golden Lions posted a record of 10-38 last season and went 4-20 in SWAC play.
Season tickets are now on sale for the 2024 season and can be purchased at Lion-Athletics.com/Tickets. Single game tickets for the 37 home games go on sale Jan. 29.
