Win second straight game
EMORY — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats are over the .500 mark on the season once again following a road sweep against the Rains Lady Wildcats Tuesday. The first two sets would be highly competitive, while the last set was controlled by Sulphur Springs, as they came away victorious.
The first set would be a back and forth battle, as both teams fought hard for the early control. Sulphur Springs would come away with a 25-20 win in the first set, grabbing the lead.
The following set was even more competitive, as both teams continued their strong play. In the end, Sulphur Springs edged out Rains for a 2624 win in the second set, extending their lead to 2-0.
The third set would see Sulphur Springs take their game to another level, as Rains simply couldn’t keep up with them. Sulphur Springs would dominate the third set for a 25-12 win, completing a road sweep.
Trinity Jefferson finished with 15 assists, nine kills, four digs, three aces, and two blocks, coming one kill shy of a double- double. Tessa Allen tallied a team-high 12 digs, also recording two assists.
Rainey Johnson led the team in kills with 11, also adding six digs, four blocks, and three assists. Harper Hodges would finish with eight assists, three digs, and one ace. Kyra Carter would come away with seven kills, four digs, and three blocks.
Mary Taylor was a consistent presence with six kills, six digs, three blocks, and one assist. Kate Monk totaled three digs, three blocks, and one assist.
Kaylee Carter finished with two kills, two blocks, and two digs. Madison Jeter also contributed with one dig.
With the win, the Lady Wildcats improved to 1413 on the season. They resumed action Friday, welcoming the Mount Vernon Lady Tigers to Wildcat Gym.
