COMMERCE — The Cumby Lady Trojans picked up a Bi-District championship Tuesday with a three-set win over the Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels at Commerce High School’s Tiger Gym. The game was never in question, as the Lady Trojans controlled the game from start to finish and never let their guard down.

The first set would set the tone for the game, as the Lady Trojans were clicking on all cylinders, while the Lady Rebels struggled early on. The Lady Trojans would win the first set 25-10.

The second set would be more of the same, as the Lady Trojans continued to play well, while the Lady Rebels still couldn’t establish any rhythm. The Lady Trojans would win the second set 25-13, extending their lead to 2513.

During the third set, the Lady Rebels appeared to finally find their footing in the game, as they played better. However, it was too little, too late, as the Lady Trojans would win the third set 25-19, ending the game and capping off yet another sweep.

Erin Morgan played a pivotal role in the win with 24 assists, 14 attacks, and nine kills. Neely Hammond would also play a big role with 21 attacks and six kills. Heather McCraw tallied 17 attacks and four kills.

Ashlyn Hudson was a key presence with 16 attacks, five kills, and four digs. Sandra McCraw would come up with nine attacks and four kills. Lilly Campbell found ways to contribute with five attacks and two kills. Jacie Morales finished with two digs.

With this win, the Lady Trojans are Bi-District champions, and they improved their record to 28-4 overall. They will now focus on their Area playoff game, which will be against the Poolville Lady Monarchs. The game will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at Gainesville High School.
