Lady Panthers fall against Cooper, 4-2

Buchanan, Hrabal score one run each

COOPER — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers were tripped up in their Thursday district contest against the Cooper Dogettes, losing 4-2. Despite initially fighting back to make the game competitive, they couldn’t pull ahead, leading to a disappointing loss.

The first inning would be scoreless, as both offenses couldn’t muster any rhythm. The second inning would also be scoreless.

In the third inning, the Dogettes took the lead with a run, leading 1-0. This was followed by a scoreless fourth inning.

The Dogettes added onto their lead in the fifth inning with another run, extending their lead to 2-0. In the sixth inning, the Lady Panthers scored two runs of their own. Stevana Buchanan and Hadlee Hrabal both scored, tying the score at 2-2.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Dogettes reclaimed the lead with a pair of runs, pulling ahead 4-2. Unfortunately, the Lady Panthers couldn’t find any more scores in the bottom of the seventh inning, suffering a 4-2 loss.

As a team, the Lady Panthers batted just 2 for 21 (.095) from the plate. Lucy Hernandez and Hrabal both tallied one hit each, while Buchanan and Hrabal scored one run each.

Daylee Fite suffered the loss in the circle. Across seven innings, she rallied 11 strikeouts, along with 11 hits, four earned runs, and four walks.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers dropped to 5-2 in district and 11-5-1 overall. They resumed action Friday, traveling to Celeste to take on the Celeste Lady Blue Devils.
