Lady Lions win warm up game on the road

LONE OAK — After finishing district play undefeated and winning their district, the Saltillo Lady Lions traveled to Lone Oak Thursday night for a warm-up game. While waiting to see with w him they will go head-to-head in the playoffs, Saltillo used the time to get another game in, which they won, 55-31.

Saltillo opened up with a strong first quarter, outscoring Lone Oak, 18-8. In the second quarter, their offense slowed down a bit. Holding Lone Oak to just 9 points in the frame, the Lady Lions led, 26-17, at the half.

In the third quarter, they separated themselves even more, winning the quarter, 19-6, to push their lead to 45-23. Saltillo put the game away in the fourth quarter and won 55-31.

Anna Reeder led the way for the Lady Lions, finishing with 18 points. Other scorers for Saltillo were Jocelyn Ochoa and Julianna Giles, who each had 8 points; Kristina Wade, 7; Chandler Bain, 6; Allie Lane, 4; Brittney Peeples, 2; and Maddy Smith, 2.

The Lady Lions earned a bye in the Bi-District round of the playoffs, and will face the winner of Throckmorton and Henrietta Midway. Details on when and where this game will be played will be published in upcoming editions of the News-Telegram.
