Bain, Wade combine for 47
SALTILLO- The Saltillo Lady Lions hosted the North Hopkins Lady Panthers Tuesday for one of their final non-district matches of the season. The Lady Lions had a week of rest since their last game in which they beat Class 4A Liberty-Eylau by a final score of 63-46.
The Lady Lions had an amazing first quarter, posting 29 points in the frame without allowing a single point. Saltillo kept the momentum going, adding another nine points to their lead in the second quarter, leading 46-8 at the end of the first half.
In the third quarter the Lady Lions had their best frame of the day, scoring 36 points while allowing North Hopkins to score just five points. Saltillo let up in the final quarter, cruising to a 92-14 win.
Senior Chandler Bain led the way, posting an impressive 27-point performance. Fellow senior Kristina Wade had a strong game as well, also finishing with 20 points.
Anna Reeder also finished in double-digits, adding 13 points of her own. Other notable scorers for the Lady Lions were Allie Lane with nine points, Paisley Kastner with five points, Maddy Smith with three points and Brittney Peeples with two points.
“The varsity came out to a great start, and the subs played well,” coach Bill Giles said.
The win improves the Lady Lions record to 9-3 on the season. Through their 12 games so far this season, the Lady Lions have outscored their opponents 687-447, scoring 20 points more per game than they allow.
Saltillo has another non-district match against Hooks Saturday before resuming district play. Their remaining district schedule is:
