Lady Lions easily defeat Yantis, 64-10

YANTIS — The Saltillo Lady Lions rolled to their sixth straight win Tuesday following a 64-10 beat down of the Yantis Lady Owls. The game’s outcome was decided early on, as the Lady Lions dominated from the start and never relinquished control, embarrassing their opponent.

The first quarter would set the tone early on, as the Lady Lions dominated, while the Lady Owls struggled mightily. The Lady Lions held a 13-2 lead at the quarter’s end.

The second saw the Lady Lions take their game to another level, as the Lady Owls couldn’t find a way to slow them down. The Lady Lions outscored the Lady Owls 20-3 in the second quarter, increasing their lead to 33-5 going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Lady Lions continued their stellar gameplay in the third quarter, as the Lady Owls’ struggles continued. The Lady Lions once again outscored the Lady Owls 20-3 in the third quarter, building their already massive lead to 53-8.

The fourth quarter saw the Lady Lions close out the game, as the Lady Owls couldn’t make any progress. The Lady Lions outscored the Lady Owls 11-2 in the fourth quarter, polishing off a 64-10 victory.

Shelbi Ricketson finished as the Lady Lions’ leading scorer with 13 points. Gabby Ross wasn’t far behind with 11 points. Rounding out the scoring was Kenzi Pipkin with eight, Katie Olvera and Addi Pipkin with seven each, Ryleigh Redar with six, Jamie Alvarez with four, Lani Dean with three, Jaelynn Miller and Kallie Potter with two each, and Jaylee Miller with one.

With the win, the Lady Lions improved to 10-1 in district and 24-7 overall. Their final regular season game will be Feb. 6, when they travel to Avinger to face off against the Avinger Lady Indians.
