BOGATA — The No. 6 Como-Pickton Lady Eagles picked up their second consecutive win Friday after defeating the Rivercrest Lady Rebels 13-2 on the road. The game’s outcome would be decided early on, as the Lady Eagles built a quick lead and never let their guard down, leading to a blowout win.

The first inning saw the Lady Eagles score right away. After Bella Romero scored the first run, Addi Monk would launch a solo home run, giving the Lady Eagles an early 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, the Lady Eagles added three runs to their lead. Paisley Watkins, Journey Brumley, and Sanay Diaz all scored, building Como- Pickton’s lead to 5-0.

Following a scoreless third inning, the Lady Rebels got on the board in the fourth inning with a pair of runs, cutting the score to 5-2.

The Lady Eagles would add onto their lead in the fifth inning. Gracie Thompson, Lexie Rainey, and Monk would score, as the Lady Eagles’ extended their lead to 8-2.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Eagles added on five more runs. Runs by Romero, Thompson, Rainey, and Monk would bring the score to 12-2.

Soon after, Saylor Smith blasted a solo home run, raising the score to 13-2. After Rivercrest was held scoreless in the bottom of the sixth inning, the game came to an end, as the Lady Eagles finished off a 13-2 victory.

As a team, the Lady Eagles batted 12 for 32 (.375) from the plate. Monk and Romero led the way with three hits a piece, while Smith, Thompson, and Watkins added two hits each.

Monk finished as the Lady Eagles’ top scorer with three runs. Rainey, Romero, and Thompson scored two runs each, while Brumley, Diaz, Smith, and Watkins added one run a piece.

Rainey picked up the victory in the circle. Across six innings, she rallied six strikeouts, allowing only four hits, two earned runs, and one walk.

With the win, the Lady Eagles improved to 5-1 in district and 25-3 overall. They resumed action Tuesday, traveling to Detroit to face off against the Detroit Lady Eagles.
