District volleyball games get underway

COMO-PICKTON

After an up and down non-district schedule, the Como-Pickton Lady Eagles hope to begin their district schedule on a strong note. The Lady Eagles will host PTAA for the second district game of the season Tuesday and will travel to Miller Grove Friday. Tuesday’s game will be varsity only and will begin at 5 p.m. Friday’s game against Miller Grove will have the junior varsity beginning at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.

CUMBY

Despite having to miss the first few weeks of their season, the Cumby Lady Trojans enter district play on fire. Cumby is 4-1, with all four of their wins being 3-0 sweeps. The Lady Trojans will travel to Fruitvale Tuesday with the junior varsity beginning at 5 p.m. and the varsity to follow. On Friday, they will come back home for a match against PTAA, that will be a varsity-only match to begin at 4:30 p.m.

MILLER GROVE

The Miller Grove Lady Hornets season began with a pair of losses but have since won five of their last seven games including their district opener against Alba-Golden. The Lady Hornets hope to keep their momentum going next week with a pair of home games. They Will host Boles Tuesday and Como-Pickton Friday. In both games, the junior varsity will begin at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.

NORTH HOPKINS

The North Hopkins Lady Panthers are coming off a tough streak in which six of their eight games have been on the road. The Lady Panthers will have one last road game Tuesday against Yantis before coming home for their first home game since starting district play. The road game against Yantis will have the junior varsity beginning at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow. Their home game Friday will be against Chapel Hill; the freshmen team will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the junior varsity and varsity to follow.

SULPHUR BLUFF

The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears began district play this week with a close 3-2 loss to Rivercrest. This week, the Lady Bears will have another pair of district games with one of them on the road and one at home. They will travel to Maud Tuesday and will host Linden-Kildare Friday. In both games the junior varsity will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.

SULPHUR SPRINGS

After having their season pushed back over a month, the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will finally get to open their season this week. The Lady Cats will travel to Greenville on Tuesday with the freshmen team kicking things off at 4:30 p.m. with the junior varsity and varsity to follow. On Friday, Sulphur Springs will go to Frisco-Heritage for another road game; the junior varsity and varsity will follow the freshmen team, who begin at 5:30 p.m..
