Boys, girls win homecoming games

MILLER GROVE — The Miller Grove Hornets held their homecoming games Friday night and got two big district wins against Savoy.

The Varsity girls team played first in a game they won 50-34. Harli Watson had a big game, scoring 22 points and making four of her five attempts from the free throw line. Other scorers for the Lady Hornets were Lauren Bullard 11, Jora Bessonett 8, Lainy Burnett 6 and Summer Coker 3.

Varsity boys followed with another impressive performance, controlling the entire first half and leading 41-9 at halftime. The second half saw much of the same as the Hornets led 57-14 at the end of the third quarter, and a final score of 67-19.

Three Hornets finished in double digits with Kobe Robertson leading the way, finishing with 16 points, making six shots from the field and going 4-6 from the free throw line. Right behind him was Matt Brignon, who had 15 points, and made six shots from the field while making all three of his free throw attempts. Lexton Sly had 10 points on a pair of 3-pointers and two 2-point field goals.

Other scorers for the Hornets were Tanner Hensley 8, Isaiah Billingsley who had 6 points on a pair of 3-pointers, Kagen Scott 6, Riley Hasten 4 and Jacob George 2.

Miller Grove will play again Tuesday Jan. 21 in Fruitvale. The JV Boys will start at 6 p.m. with the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys to follow.
