Mitchell racks up 3 touchdowns

MARSHALL- The Sulphur Springs eighth grade football team traveled to Marshall Tuesday, hoping to remain undefeated. The Wildcats entered the game with a record of 4-0.

The A team set the tone early, and won big, taking the game by a score of 38-6. Quarterback Kaden Mitchell had a great game, throwing for a 40-yard touchdown pass, and rushing for a pair of touchdowns as well.

Wide receiver Jackson Haire was on the receiving end of the 40-yard touchdown pass. Haire also had 50 yards rushing in the game.

Running back Dedric Rose-Luke ran the ball hard, picking up 70 yards rushing and one touchdown. Behind him was Billy Boughton who had 40 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

“Great job by all 11 Wildcats players offensively,” coach Eddie Flores said. “Our offensive line executed the blocking scheme well all night.”

Middle linebacker Lane Kerns led the team defensively, picking up one sack and seven tackles. Sulphur Springs also got good production from their defensive line.

“Nathan Andrews, Giovanni Solis and Dallan Horton played well all night, putting pressure on the Marshall offense,” Flores added.

The eighth grade A team improves to 5-0 on the season with the win. They will travel to Mount Pleasant Friday for their final game of the season. The B team is set to begin at 5 p.m. with the A team to follow.
