Graveside services for Mary Jo Humphrey Glover, age 81, of Tomball, Texas, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at Forest Academy Cemetery with Greg Hawkins, Dakota Hawkins, Colton Frazier, Caleb Frazier, Jason Frazier and Jon Humphrey serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be James Humphrey.

Mary Jo passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, at Northgate Assisted Living in Tomball, Texas. Mary Jo was born on Sept. 27, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Julian Duane Humphrey and Dorothy Mae Hinton Humphrey. She married Robert Glover on April 14, 1961, in Oklahoma and he preceded her in death.

Mary Jo was not only a homemaker, she was also involved with local politics where she helped with campaigns for a local congressman and helped her husband when he ran for city counsel. Mary Jo was Vice President of the local Women’s Aglow Chapter in Richmond/Rosenberg and she went to Washington, DC, and participated in the Right to Life March on Pennsylvania Avenue in the early 70s, she was also President of the Fort Bend County Four Square United Women, a women’s missionary group.

Mary Jo liked to draw, write poems and was involved with her church.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Hawkins and husband Greg of Magnolia, Texas; brother, James Ray Humphrey of Como; and grandson, Dakota Hawkins and wife Laney of Friendswood, Texas.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jennifer Lee Glover; and brother, Larry Humphrey.
