On Feb. 22, 2020, one of the brightest lights in Hopkins County passed from this life into her heavenly home.

Jackie Sapaugh was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas May 9, 1933, the daughter of T.T. (Cowboy) Sapaugh and Jesse Clyde Kennedy Sapaugh.

After marrying Joe Mac McGlamery Jan. 15, 1958, she made her home in Pickton, Texas for most of her adult life, becoming an active part of the community and her church.

She was an inspiration to all she met. She rarely had a bad day and somehow always accepted the challenges of this life with a smile and a faith like no other. Though her stature was small, she proved over and over her resolve, toughness and strength. Death didn’t stop her light from shining, as she stands in heaven today, serving the Lord brighter than ever.

Her life on earth was filled with serving others through her 40-plus-year career as a teller at Sulphur Springs State Bank (Alliance), and chances are, she has cashed your check, given you a sucker or made you chuckle at least once in your life. She also dedicated herself to decades of service as the song leader and choir director at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton, Texas. Her life fulfilled the highest call of any person; she loved God, and she loved others.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother ,Wendell Sapaugh; in-laws, Warner and Eunice McGlamery; brother-in-law, Jerry Tom (J.T.) McGlamery; and sister-in-law, Betty McGlamery Hatfield.

She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Helen Sapaugh and Bonnie McGlamery Moore (who both sacrificially assisted Jackie in her later years). She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly and made each feel special in her own way. A service celebrating

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton, Texas with Pastor Mike Haun and Bro. Tommy Neal officiating.
