A funeral service for Emma Jean Delcambre, age 79, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. H.B. Nash officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. There will be no formal visitation. Ms. Delcambre passed away on Tuesday Oct. 24, 2023, at Christus Mother Frances, Sulphur Springs.

Emma Jean was born on March 4, 1944, in Campbell, Texas, to Sammie Harris Sr. and Pearl Lee Kelly Harris. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1962. Emma was employed by Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, now Christus Mother Frances, for 35 years. She joined Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member until her death.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Sammie and Pearl Lee Harris; sisters, Thelma Williams, Dorothy Peace, Wanda Whitmore and Alice F. Williams; brother, W C Finnie; nieces, Vikiesha Williams and Melissa Johnson; brothers-in-law, James Peace, Jerry Wilkerson, Oscar Williams and James Whitmore; and sonin- law, Matthew Williams.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Simone Williams (Stacy), Ester Vaughn and Roslyn Berry (Harold); her son, Stephen Edwards (Courtney); sisters, Annie Wilkerson and Jane Clayton; brother, Sammie Harris Jr.; grandchildren, Markelle Williams, Zacharius Spigner Jr.; special best friend from high school, Lou Jean Barrett; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.
