A half-inch of rain Sunday didn’t put a damper on the latest stop of the East Texas Junior Golf Tour Monday at Mount Pleasant Country Club.
Sunny skies Monday set the tone for the latest stop on the tour and Sulphur Springs’ Issac Stanley added a second place finish to his tally for the year.
Stanley carded a 53 to finish second in the latest event Monday after noon, finishing one shot behind eventual winner Abbot Harbour of Cookville.
Mount Pleasant’s Ty Abbott and Pittsburg’s Charlie Yantis tied for third with a score of 58 and Sloan Abbott of Mount Pleasant finished fifth with a score of 67.
For the year thus far, Stanley is in second place in the tour standings with 60 points, just ahead of third place golfer Kylee Strickland of Mount Pleasant. Harbour leads the tour with 111 points; he is the only golfer to have played every tournament this season.
Stanley has medaled in every event in which he’s taken part, finishing third twice and second twice.
In the high school boys standings, Grant Mohesky of Sulphur Springs is in 13th place. Easton Lewis, also of Sulphur Springs, is in 16th place.
The tour traveled to Pittsburg’s Princedale Country Club Thursday and will be off next week for Independence Day. The tour will resume July 11 at Sulphur Springs Country Club.
