Varsity falls 3-2

TERRELL- The Sulphur Springs Wildcats soccer team traveled to Terrell for their first preseason game of the season Monday.

To start things off, the Wildcats junior varsity B team fell by a final score of 4-2. Garrett Robinson was responsible for both goals in the game, scoring the first on a penalty kick and the second on an assist from Matthew Archer.

The junior varsity A team followed with an even closer game, falling by a final score of 2-1. Bryan Rodriguez scored the lone goal of the game. His goal was unassisted.

In the varsity matchup, the Wildcats fell in a tough 3-2 loss. Alejandro Diosdado got the scoring started with some help from an Edgar Salazar assist. Omar Hernandez followed with a goal on a penalty kick.

After strong play in the scrimmage portion of their schedule, the Wildcats officially begin their season with a record of 0-1. Sulphur Springs has a very busy schedule ahead, as they will be in tournaments for the next two weekends. The Wildcats will play in the Forney tournament this weekend and the Wylie tournament next week before traveling to Highland Park on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Their only home game before district play will be against Pleasant Grove, Tuesday, Jan. 26. The varsity is set to begin that game at 7:15 p.m.
