7 more SSISD students confirmed with COVID

Two additional staff members at Sulphur Springs Elementary School are lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 as of Tuesday last week and were on that campus the week prior. There were also a student and teacher at Sulphur Springs Middle School announced to have the virus, both of whom were on that campus the week of Sept. 14.

On Thursday, Sulphur Springs Independent School District announced six students and one staff member at Sulphur Springs High School were lab-confirmed with COVID-19 and had been on the SSHS campus that week. An additional staff member at SSHS was announced as having the virus Monday morning and was on campus last week.

This brings the number of cases of COVID-19 at SSISD to 10 adults and 16 students for a total of 26 cases.

SSISD has previously announced two students and two teachers at SSMS, one student at Douglass ECLC, three students at Sulphur Springs High School, a bus driver, one student at Travis Primary, one teacher at SSES and two students at Bowie Primary.

North Hopkins Independent School District officials notified parents and families that a student has been lab-confirmed with COVID-19, as of Thursday, Sept. 17. The student was last on North Hopkins High School campus Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The district announced Sept. 15 an employee who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 and last present in NHISD Thursday, Sept. 10.

This brings the lab-confirmed COVID-19 case count at NHISD to one student and one employee, for a total of two cases since school began for the 2020- 2021 school year.

Due to privacy requirements, the districts will not be releasing the names of the individuals or details that may identify them.
