Hopkins County July Runoff Election Results

Hopkins County voters participated in the July 2020 runoff election, delayed since May due to COVID-19. Below are the results for each of the races. Each will run in November as their party's candidate. A full story will be available later.

 

State Representative, District 2 – Republican Party

Dan Flynn – 49 votes (40.16%) in absentee, 368 votes (33.48%) in early voting, 305 votes (37.33%) on election day:

722 (35.43%) total

Bryan Slaton – 73 votes (59.84%) in absentee, 731 votes (66.52%) in early voting, 512 votes (62.67%) on election day:

1,316 (64.57%) total

 

US Senator – Democratic Party

Royce West - 104 votes (57.14%) in absentee, 79 votes (54.48%) in early voting, 79 votes (63.20%) on election day:

262(57.96%) total

Mary “MJ” Hegar - 78 votes (42.86%) in absentee, 66 votes (45.52%) in early voting, 46 votes (42.04%) on election day:

190(42.04%) total

 

Railroad Commissioner – Democratic Party

Roberto R. “Beto” Alonzo - 94 votes (52.81%) in absentee, 47 votes (34.56%) in early voting, 51 votes (44.35%) on election day:

192 (44.76%) total

Chrysta Castañeda - 84 votes (47.19%) in absentee, 89 votes (65.44%) in early voting, 64 votes (55.65%) on election day:
