The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats opened district play Tuesday night when they hosted Greenville.

Haley Robinson opened the game by scoring the first three goals of the night for Sulphur Springs, all of which were assisted by Rebekah Stanley. Stanley also went on to score a pair of goals herself, one unassisted and one on a penalty kick.

Janine Yamaguchi scored a goal as well, on an assist from Ashley Noe. "The girls controlled the game since the first half and had more possession of the ball than Greenville," Coach Javier Aguayo said. "There were no mistakes from our defense which makes us very happy, since we've had trouble defensively before. I'm happy with the results and the way the girls played tonight."

The JV team also got a win, beating Greenville 3-0.

Scorers for the Lady Cats were Maleah Doss, who scored on an assist from Angel Cruz; Harley Archer, who scored on a free kick; and Alexia Vallejo, who had an unassisted goal.

The Lady Cats will play again Friday, Feb. 21 on the road against Texas High. The JV team will start at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
